Attempted theft, Lorain Road

On April 12 at 2:27 a.m. officers were called to the Parkview Manor Apartments in response to two men going through cars. The men left in a car after being seen by a resident. Responding officers determined the men were no longer in the area and they began an investigation. It appears that the cars that were entered were unlocked and no property was reported stolen.

Attempted theft, West 229th Street

On April 12 at 11:13 a.m. a resident reported that overnight their Ring camera recorded two men attempting to enter their car and a car across the street. The cars were all locked and no items were taken, and no other attempts or thefts were reported in the area. The investigation is ongoing.

Fraud, Lorain Road

On April 12 at 11:37 a.m. a resident reported being a victim of an employment scam. After sending a company his personal information, they sent a check for him to cash in his bank account. The bank flagged the check as fraudulent and froze the resident’s bank account. Information regarding identity theft and fraud protection was provided to the resident.

Theft, Westgate

On April 12 at noon an Ulta Cosmetics employee reported a theft that had occurred on April 9. Two women had taken approximately $900 of merchandise without paying. After an investigation, two people of interest were identified. The investigation is ongoing.
